Управление протезами силой мысли и технологии, позволяющие общаться с парализованными людьми, ‒ исследования мозга открыли новую эру. Но чем больше знаний, тем больше вопросов. В 80-х годах Бенджамин Либет провел эксперимент, который, по мнению многих учёных, доказал, что у человека нет свободы воли. «Мы можем повлиять на ваше решение, воздействуя на участок мозга», ‒ говорят ученые. А представляете, сколько всего влияет на мозг? В том числе и сама эволюция: мы не можем добровольно изменить особенности восприятия, которые формировались миллионами лет. В фильме не только проводятся эксперименты и демонстрируются новые технологии, но и поднимаются философские вопросы. Учёные отвечают на них по-разному.

Investigations of the brain have opened a new era of technologies that allow controlling prostheses via the power of thought and communicating with the paralyzed people. Yet, the more knowledge we acquire, the more questions arise. Benjamin Libet  conducted experiments in the 80s that many scientists think have proved that humans do not have free will. “We can influence your decision by impacting certain parts of the brain,” scientists say. Can you imagine how many things impact the brain, including the evolution that has formed the brain: we cannot voluntarily change the properties of perception that have been forming for millions of years. The film does not only show the experiments but also depicts new technologies and raises philosophical issues. Different scientists have different answers to these questions.

In our film we will tell viewers how it is important to protect the gifts that nature gave us. The intrigue does not let us go until the very end of the film, because the character through many obstacles during the creation of the scilpture. What will “Father Baikal” like, where will he find gis place, will the spirits receive such a gift, will the artist’s soul reconcile peace, will he be able to attract public’s attention to the problem of Baikal, all of these will be shown in documentary film.

Jacques Lœuille is a french author and film director born in 1983.  

He is a graduate of Fine Arts Schools and of Le Fresnoy-National Studio of Contemporary Arts in 2010. Subsequently, he has directed films (‘An American Stroll in Flanders’, ‘An Optimist In Andalusia,’ ‘Le journal de Théodore Kracklite’, .’45 Magnum’, etc.) aired in art galleries, art exhibitions, art centres, museums as well as festivals in France and abroad. 

In parallel, he has directed portraits of artists for television: ‘Marguerite Yourcenar, Alchimie du paysage’ (2014, 52 min, France Televisions) ; Rubens, peindre l’Europe  (2017, 52 min, France Televisions) ; ’Kupka, pioneer of abstract art’ (2017, 52 min, Arte TV) — Award for the Best Feature Documentary Screenplay at the ANSFF Festival in Buenos Aires, Argentina in 2018. The main character, Fateich with his family takes care of own underwater farm and gets sea delicacies. Opening amazing underwater and ground views of Primorsky Krai. Chiara Bellini was born in Pisa, Italy, in 1973.

She moved to Rome in 1992, where she started her career in film and TV.

She has collaborated to writing but has also experienced more technical tasks including continuity and first assistant director.

After few years devoted to the development of projects for third parties, she is now working as screenwriter and director for her own production company.

It is known, that the whale hunting today is controversial and subject to international criticism and regulations. Алексей Вахрушев – продюсер и директор нескольких хорошо известных российских документальных фильмов за последние несколько лет. Одна из его работ, Книга Тундры, получила престижную награду NIKE Российской Академией кинематографических искусств и наук за «Лучший документальный фильм года». Фильм продолжал выигрывать все другие Российские награды и был показан на многочисленных кинофестивалях по всему мира, включая Hot Docs, Vision du Reel, Documenta Madrid, the Asia-Pacific Screen Awards, Berlinale Native и другие. 

Алексей – инуит, родившийся на Чукотском полуострове на востоке России в 1969 году. Окончив режиссерский факультет Российской государственной киношколы (ВГИК) в 1996 году, он начал свою карьеру с документального фильма «Время, когда тают мечты». Фильм рассказывает правдивую историю его родных инуитов-юпиков, живущих на северо-востоке России. Его перспективная группа предложила свежий новый взгляд на жизнь, проблемы и стремления коренных народов, проживающих на российской стороне Берингова пролива. Это был первый раз, когда их история была запечатлена на пленке. 

Он продолжал снимать свои лучшие работы на родине, фокусируясь на жизни и проблемах людей, живущих там. «Птицы Наукана» (1996) – визуально ошеломляющий 35-мм фильм о поселении инуитов на мысе Дежнева, который был демонтирован в начале холодной войны. Изгнанные со своей родовой земли народ Наукана все еще борется за сохранение своей культурной идентичности. За этим фильмом последовали «Остров», «Охотники холодного берега» и многое другое. «Книга моря» – его последний проект. 

Алексей являлся членом Института этнологии и антропологии Российской академии наук с начала 2000-х годов. В течение пяти невероятных лет он и его команда снимали сериал Russian National Geographic для Первого канала (крупнейшая государственная вещательная корпорация России). В то же время он продолжал разрабатывать и выпускать собственные независимые документальные проекты. 

С 2009 года Алексей возглавлял собственную производственную компанию High Latitude, Ltd., которая продолжает фокусировать на коренных народах Севера.

«How big is the Galaxy?»

Zharkovs family – a father, a mother, and two little sons- belong to the Dolgan community, one of the last indigenous, continuing traditional nomadic life in the far North of Siberia. Seven-years-old Zakhar and his elder brother Prokopy have their own deer and own tundra for the nomad. Zakhar is a smart and inquisitive boy. Every day he has hundred of new questions about the world, and he discovers that his teacher doesn’t always have the answers.

We search for a key to understanding of freedom, knowledge and civilization in the vast Arctic spaces of Siberia, hundreds miles from human dwellings, through the eyes of a 7-year-old indigenous boy.

Ksenia Elyan 

Born in Moscow in 1981, Ksenia has been a professional editor of documentaries, TV programs, commercials and other video productions since 2000. She also works as a film director and DoP. In 2010 she graduated from Moscow’s School of Documentary Film and Theater of Marina Razbezhkina and Mikhail Ugarov as a documentary director. Her debut mid-length documentary Uncle Vova premiered at Russia’s most important documentary festival Artdocfest in 2010. As a DoP she also participated in such internationally recognized projects as The Term (2014, premiered at the Karlovy Vary Film Festival; Amnesty International Award at WatchDocs in Warsaw) and My Friend Boris Nemtsov (2016, Best Documentary at the Krakow Film Festival). How Big is the Galaxy? is Ksenia’s full-length documentary debut.

Overwhelmed by the consequences of climate change, Doris and Charles are determined to do something. Convinced that the solution is in the hands of young people, these two retirees sell their house in Zürich and buy a boat. Their idea is simple. Take five young Swiss people to the arctic circle to observe the signs of global warming and then raise awareness through social medias amongst their generation. 

The great adventure begins. For three weeks, the crew of the San Gottardo is going to navigate in hostile but beautiful landscapes. Armed with cameras, these kids are going to document the health of the end of the earth.

Jaska Halttunen, 40- something cycling nature blogger, got a new bike some years ago and found love for cycling all over again. Soon his bike trips were longer and finally Jaska got an idea to ride the full length of Finland, from the south point of Finland in Hanko to Nuorgam, northest place in Lapland. With hardly no experience in camping he planned to pack just a hammock and camp in woods. His over 2000 kilometres routeplan included trails, dirt roads and detours to Finland’s the most beatiful nature sigths such as caves, ravines, rapids and other impressive places. #Fillaripäiväkirja (bicycle diary) was one of the Finland 100-years anniversary projects in 2017, recognized by The Office of the President of the Finland. The Finnish television version of #Fillaripäiväkirja documentary film premiered in Finnish television early 2018 and it has already been seen by over 100.000 viewers.

Working within TV productions since 2008, mostly behind the camera. Cinematographer for some tv-documentaries and wide experience as a eng-cameraman in tv-news and reality-tv productions. #Bicyclediary was his first feature length documentary production as a director.
